Too busy
So yet again the whole ‘when I have interesting stuff to talk about I never have time’ problem has arisen. But this time is slightly different because ‘it has been beyond my control’ to paraphrase Dangerous Liaisons.
So what have I been doing?
I suppose the main culprit for the loss of any spare time is the fact that I have meet a girl. But that is not big news really because I meet lots of girls but they don’t usually invite themselves round for dinner on the first date and continue to occupy most of my time when I am not working, sleeping, drinking and sometimes lounging on my sofa.
So who is ‘this girl’ and why won’t I tell you her name? Well we meet through a friend of a friend in a bar in downtown just after Christmas and she asked me not to write too much about her on this site. So I am just respecting her wishes, one day I she said she might write something introducing herself but until that time she will be known as ‘this girl’.
So my life is pretty full at the moment. We are working on a beer pitch at work which is a lot of fun, maybe too much fun. I am dating ‘this girl’. My friend Dimitri and his wife Catherine moved into an apartment in SoHo which is only six blocks from my place which makes for a easy drunk stumble back home after a night of drinking and eating.
And just to add a little extra spice things seem to be kicking off in my neighborhood. My home life has been relatively quiet for the past 18 months or so, I usually meet the odd person in my apartment hallway and exchange the usual pleasantries and the odd comment about the weather.
But in the last two weeks a TV show; ‘Rescue Me’ wanted to use my apartment as a location, I didn’t reply to the offer. The sink in the apartment upstairs burst and poured through the ceiling of my bathroom at 4.30 am causing me to call landlords and handymen and spend several hours mopping and cleaning – a great way to spend any Saturday morning. A drunk man passed out on the steps of my building and starting coughing up blood – just I came home from work. Luckily enough one of my neighbours was already dealing with the situation and even luckier two cops walked by and took care of everything.
