Quiet. The talent is busy.
I have a English accent and I don't care if you think that I am picking up the odd American word and every now and again slip up and use it in conversation with an Englishman/woman.
I know I have an English accent because I can get away with saying things at work that would have most Americans swiftly reprimanded by the HR department. I also get asked to help out on spec. TV ads and this is a first: asked to perform on a band's album.
Now I use the word perform the looses sense of the word. A guy I work with, lets call him Ernie because that is his name, has a band called The Arsons and they are recording their third album. He asked me if I would record a bit of dialogue from the film, The Planet of the Apes:
'Beware the beast man, for he is the devil's pawn.
Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport, or lust or greed.
Yes, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land.
Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours.
Shun him.
Drive him back into his jungle lair: For he is the harbinger of death'.
So yesterday I did just that, not really performance but quite fun to say I did it. Hopefully Ernie and the band will let me post a MP3/clip on here when they are happy with the song.

Baby Bobbin
I got a text late last night from Andy it read:
Esme Ruth Bobbin born 24th Jan @ 22.25 Weight 7lb 14oz. Mum and Baby doing well.
I then sent back a message asking how Daddy was doing and I got this reply:
very tired but not complaining, been a stressfull few days with lots more yet to come. but feels brilliant to hold my daughter.
Bless.
Anyways I'm sure you guys are as happy as I am for the Bobbin's. That last line of Andy's is just plain beautiful.

I got name
I know it's a little bit too early for spring cleaning. But I have been tidying up some of the websites and hosting space I own. As I was moving files around the various web space that I control I checked to see if my name was available as a .com name.
And as luck would have it, the person (who is obviously called Alastair Green) had let it expire. So I whipped out the old debit card and bought my name back.
So I now own my name and have put a little landing page together - although I now have to find out what has happened with usbx - it went off line about a week ago.

Oh yeah, tracksuit tourist
So at lunch time I was walking across the top of Times Square. And I spotted this tourist in a rather fetching tracksuit and matching headband. It was then that I realized that I had my new camera with me and I took a rather sneaky picture to preserve and share the moment with you dear reader.
Now it's moments like these that I bought it to try and capture some of the unusual things that I see and amuse me.

New Monday
So today was different, I had a window in my office and I could see daylight. Now that may not seem like a startling revelation to you. But to me who has been stuck in the smallest, dingy, smelly (that might been my fault) and embarrassing office at work it was a big deal.
ready for work, well kind of Simon is still unpacking.
In typical work fashion we only found we were being moved when we were told to pack our stuff because facilities were coming to move us. But that is all forgotten because we have a windows, not one, but three glorious light channeling portals into the real world.
We moved in last Friday afternoon but today was the first full day in our new space and I was overjoyed to watch the sun set over Hells Kitchen. I am almost excited about going to work tomorrow. Almost.
the sunset.
Another nice surprise was a friend from London called into the offices, Andrew McPhee is a kiwi I used to work with. I had no idea he was here.
McPhee and me - sounds like a move idea to me...

System Shock
Work is a real shock to the system on the first day back after a nice break. The only good thing about this week is that it's only four days long and what is even better is that? That it's already one day down.
