It has happened
Winter has finally arrived. The great New York winter that everyone has been telling me about since summer has arrived. Oh yes it's cold and I expect it will getting a lot colder than this.
...WIND CHILL VALUES NEAR OR BELOW ZERO TONIGHT...
A BITTER COLD ARCTIC AIRMASS HAS ONLY ALLOWED TEMPERATURES TO RISE TO THE MID TEENS ACROSS THE METROPOLITAN AREA THIS AFTERNOON. THESE FRIGID TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH NORTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH HAVE KEPT WIND CHILL VALUES JUST BELOW ZERO. AS TEMPERATURES DROP INTO THE LOWER TEENS THIS EVENING EXPECT WIND CHILL VALUES TO RUN BETWEEN 0 AND 5 BELOW ZERO.
and my favourite bit:
THOSE PLANNING TO VENTURE OUTDOORS SHOULD USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY...MAKING SURE THAT ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED TO AVOID FROSTBITE.
Oh these temperatures are in Fahrenheit which makes it a bit more interesting. Five below is about -21C.
Well I've just checked out weather.com and the lowest air temperature recorded for New York is only -4F so that's not that bad I'm sure London has got colder than that in the past.
This of course doesn't take into account the wind chill factor which with Manhattan surrounded by water and with a large bay to the south is surely going to pay a rather part ofme freezing my nuts off this winter.
Anyhow I am sitting inside waiting for my jacket spud to cook. mmmm jacket spud and proper hienz baked beans...

So lazy
I am so lazy. I've stopped shaving and I now have a beard (keen readers of this blog might have noticed that from the Christmas photos). I honestly meant to shave it off when I got back to New York but its easier to leave it on and as I am being lazy it stays.
I stopped writing this blog for well over a week. To be fair nothing really exciting has happened and I'm not really in the mood for doing anything exciting. Work is behaving itself with a nice gentle workload that makes the days cruise by. The only pressing things I have to do is make sure all of our award entries are okay.
I've just realized that I never mentioned (or was too lazy) the latest piece of work that went live to great (internal) reviews last week. Anyway click here to see this broadband website
Keeping with the lazy theme, I can't be bothered to go to work tomorrow...
<feine surprise> I get Monday off anyway. yipee \o/
Most of the states is in having a public (not sure if it's federal and I'm even more confused what that means) holiday - Martin Luthur Day. I love not knowing when the public holidays are coming it adds excitement to my diary.
